چکیده:

The vast number of obliterated urban tissues in Iran’s cities has been one of the main challenges of urban management in all its aspects, including sustainable development and disaster and risk management due to their numerous problems. Urban obliterated tissues are formed either due to old age or development without planned supervision such as slums. Lack of environmental safety standards, formal, social and economic calamities and lack of structural safety and infrastructure are among the deficiencies of these urban tissues. One of the main problems of these urban fabrics are their vulnerability against earthquake risk. In a seismic country like Iran, it can cause serious losses causing high death rate and economic losses. The reconstruction and rehabilitation of these urban fabrics has been one of the priorities of the urban management in Iran for more than a decade. A comparative study has been made between the criteria basis for recognition of the obliterated urban fabrics introduced by different organizations in order to introduce new measures for earthquake risk mitigation in obliterated urban fabrics.
