چکیده:

Using soil reinforcement technology by utilizing geosynthetic products has been considered worldwide due to its durability, stability, performance & simplicity in construction of costal & earth structures. Reinforced structures with soilbags have lots of technical & economical advantages to those similar concrete & stone structures. In this Paper at first a literature review of soilbag technology, its advantages & disadvantages specially for protection of coast structures has been presented. Then numerical studies on mechanical behavior of individual soilbags under vertical loads has been performed with a well-known FEM computer program ABAQUS. Finally analytical & experimental results have been compared. The results show that increasing the amount of vertical displacement of soilbags under vertical loads, cause a nonlinear increase of stress between bag‟s membrane & soil grains
