چکیده:

In this paper, flow over a free overfall in a rectangular channel has been simulated based on the potential flow theory and Schwarz- Christoffel transformation. In order to estimate the potential function, the flowhas been assumed to be inviscied and irrotational. Considering the straight line segments simulation ofthe free overfall flow course, a complex function is achieved which transfer the vertical and horizontal lines into a complex plane of stream-functions and velocity potentials in the physical plane, respectivelyBased on determining the detailed flow pattern , the free surface nappe formula is derived. The resultshas been validated using experimental measurements Results show that, although the conformal mapping conduction has been used based on steady and uniform flow conditions, but a very good quantitative agreement has been found between the results
