چکیده:

Black Ni coatings possess both very high radiation energy absorption capability and good corrosion resistance, and are highly desirable for applications in such as solar thermal energy conversion systems and sea water desalination plants. We have developed a new technique based on industrial electroplating to produce ultra-black Ni based coatings with nano-composite structure. This technique uses electroplating method to produce black Ni nano metal-oxide composite coatings on brass substrate with a bright Ni top layer. TiO2 and ZrO2 sol solutions were added to the electroplating solution to form black Ni/TiO2 and black Ni/ZrO2 composite coatings. The coating properties including hardness and scratch resistance have been improved in comparison with the conventional black Ni coating. Nano-indentation tests and microstructure studies have also been conducted to explain the strengthening mechanisms
