چکیده:

Pretreatment of carbon steel substrates was carried out by using appropriate cerium nitrate nanoparticles containing functionalized silanes. Effects of this pretreatment on cathodic disbondment, dry and wet adhesion strength and surface morphology of resultant epoxy coating was investigated. Also the effect of cerium nitrate nanoparticles values on the electrochemical properties of resultant epoxy coating was studied. Results showed that pre-treatment of steel substrate with γ-glycidoxypropyl- trimethoxysilane (γ-GPS) doped with cerium nitrate nanoparticles leads to improvement of cathodic disbondment and also dry and wet adhesion of epoxy coating. Furthermore this type of pretreatment reduced the disruption of interfacial bonds at the binder/substrate interface. Results showed that addition of cerium nitrate nanoparticles dopant up to 2.wt%, into the silane formulation, leads to the maximum efficiency of resultantcoating.
