In this paper, electrical conductance of telescoping double- walled carbon nanotubes (TDWCNTs) iscalculated using tight-binding model coupled with non- equilibrium Green’s function approach. Then the effect of Stone-Wales (SW) and monovacancy defects is investigated on the conductance of TDWCNTs and compared with perfect structure. It is observed that the conductance of TDWCNTs oscillates periodically with the relative motion of tubes along the tube axis. Consequently, TDWCNTs can be suitable for switching applications innanoelectromechanical system (NEMS). In addition, it is found that SW and monovacancy defects decrease theconductance by 30% and 50% respectively.
