چکیده:

In this paper, natural frequencies of piezoelectric bimorph beam are investigated using characteristic orthogonal polynomials (COPs). The bimorph beam is made of an elastic core has sandwiched between two upper and lower piezoelectric layers. The extension actuation mechanism is applied in piezoelectricity relations of smart beam. For this aim, polarization vector is considered parallel to the applied electric field intensity vector both parallel to the thickness direction. Kinematic, Strain and potential energies of smart piezoelectric beam are introduced based on corresponding strain- displacement relations. Then, in Rayleigh- Ritz method, we have chosen a linear combination of the several one dimensional characteristic orthogonal polynomials (COPs) satisfying at least geometrical boundary conditions. The COPs are obtained using Gram- Schmidt process. Then, the first three transversely frequencies and corresponding mode shapes of bimorph beam are calculated. Also, the finite element modeling of structure is made by ANSYS software and corresponding eigenvalue analysis is performed. Comparison of both Rayleigh-Ritz method and ANSYS shows a good agreement
