Due to manufacturing imperfectness of mechanical parts, the rotor eccentricity is unavoidable, which has considerable effect on motor’s characteristics. Eccentricity is one of the common reasons, which creates most of the mechanical faults and leads to motor vibration. This paper describe a 28 pole axial flux permanent magnet motor (AFPM) with concentrated stator winding under static eccentricity. The AFPM is modeled using three-dimensional finite-element method. This model includes all geometrical and physical characteristics of the machine components and non-uniform air gap. Use of this accurate modeling makes it possible to obtain the demanded signals for a very high precision analysis. It concludes that Static eccentricity has noticeable effects on motor characteristics.
