چکیده:

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of pre-deformation on the microstructural characteristic of aluminum 6061 alloy in the strain-induced melt activation (SIMA) process in order to achieve a globular microstructure. The grain size and spherecity factor were found by the use of an image analyzing system (MIP software) and optical observations. The optimum amount of Al-5Ti-1B was selected as 0.03 wt.%. Due to the applied SIMA process, several percentages of height reduction were investigated on specimens; such as, 20, 30 and 40%. Specimens were heat treated at 625 °C for 30 and 40 minutes. Results indicate that with the increase of the strain, the average grain size of particles decreases but the sphericity increases
