چکیده:

The surface quality of journal area of a turbine rotor influences the behavior of the hydrodynamic journal bearings. This factor highly depends on the manufacturing of the rotor and bearing. In some cases, due to manufacturing faults, geometrical form or smoothness of the surface is impaired. In this paper, the performance parameters of a hydrodynamic journal bearing are studied. Effects of surface roughness and surface waviness of journal area of the rotor are considered in Reynold’s equation. The roughness considered to have a random distribution whose zero mean measured fronominal level. The waviness is simulated by superposing a sinusoidal wave to the surface level. Finite difference method is used to solve the differential equation numerically.
