چکیده:

In semi-active structural control, which is an innovative method for reduction of structural response due to external excitations such as earthquakes, several ways for computation of control force have been introduced. This paper evaluates the effectiveness of reduction in structure’s degrees of freedom in minimizing computational effort in semi-active control strategies. Genetic Algorithm is used to find the optimum positioning of 20 ton MR dampers in structures. Various structures, exposed to two different earthquake excitations are considered as numerical examples.
