Shear walls response due to their behavioural complications may change between shear and flexure according to shear to span ratio and proportion between shear and flexural strength Conventional FEMwall models could only consider flexural response and ignore shear response. Therefore it is essential toassess the effect of ignoring shear response in modelling shear walls by comparing a flexural model response with a shear flexural model response. In this study fiber elements have been selected as a flexural model and the SMM quad lateral elements model as a shear flexural model. The results of analysis show that difference of two models in predicting the shear walls strength, ductility and descending branch is significant, that importance of modelling shear behaviour in mid-rise shear walls.
