چکیده:

This paper determines analytically natural frequencies of stepped laminated composite beams and compares the results with the corresponding uniform beams. The beams consist of angle-plied symmetric and unbalanced laminates. Therefore bending-shear-torsion couplings are considered in the analysis. The comparison is also done when the beam does not twist due to an initial excitation and for stepped metallic beams. Then, thesensitivity of the computed frequency factors with respect to different material types is verified. Finally, a comparison is done between the fundamental frequency factors of the above three cases.
