چکیده:

Mullite have been used as an structural and electronic ceramic due to its excellent structural properties such as good mechanical strength, excellent thermal shock and creep resistance, low thermal conductivity and high-temperature stability. The characteristic structure of mullite allows its grain to grow anisotropically if the grain growth takes place without any external constraint. The conventional techniques for synthesis of these elongated mullite grains are vapor- solid synthesis and in situ processing technique. Because of disadvantages of these techniques researchers tried to develop an alternative technique to produce mullite whiskers by mechanical activation of mixed oxide precursors. Also, some oxide additives decrease the temperature of mullite phase formation from starting materials. So in this paper it is tried to explain the enhancement in mullite formation in mechanoactivated starting materials doped with additives
