چکیده:

The two spotted spider mite (TSSM), Tetranychus urticae Koch is one of the most important pests ofthe eggplant, Solanum melongena L. (Solanaceae) in Iran. In the present study, in order to evaluateantibiotic resistance of different eggplant cultivars to T. urticae, the population growth parameters of thispest were determined on seven eggplant cultivars (Isfahan, Dezful, Shend-Abad, Neishabour, Bandar-Abbas, Jahrom and Borazjan) at 26±۱°C, 60±۵% RH and a photoperiod of 16:8 (L:D) hours. The obtainedresults indicated that the intrinsic rate of increase (rm) on the above-mentioned cultivars varied from 0.020day-1 on Neishabour to 0.205 day-1 on Isfahan. Also, the highest value of finite rate of increase (λ) was onIsfahan and the lowest value of this parameter was on Neishabour (1.227 and 1.020 day-1, respectively).The values of the net reproductive rate (R0) of this pest on different eggplant cultivars varied from 1.250female eggs/female/generation on Neishabour to 11.097 female eggs/female/generation on Isfahan.Furthermore, the value of doubling time (DT) on the above-mentioned was obtained as 3.369, 4.274,7.032, 28.248, 12.058, 8.274 and 5.494 days, respectively. The mean generation time (T) of TSSM onthese cultivars was 11.665, 10.787, 9.811, 11.149, 12.426, 11.156 and 11.116 days, respectively.Comparison of the population growth parameters of TSSM on different eggplant cultivars revealed thatIsfahan and Neishabour were the more susceptible and resistant cultivars to this pest, respectively
