چکیده:

Pressure vessels are commonly used in industrial applications. Determination of the optimal dome profile has been recognized as one of the most important design issues. This work presents the optimum design of dome contours for a pressure vessel using finite element analysis and particle swarm optimization algorithm. Geometrical limitations and maximizing shape factor have been used as optimization constraints. An actualdesign example of BS 5500 standard is used as the case study. Results indicate that the dome contours using the suggested method shows greater internal volume nearly 4.73% more than the dome profiles presented based on BS 5500 standard. This confirms that the proposed model can efficiently define the optimal dome shape
