چکیده:

Transfer Function (TF) method is a wellknown technique to diagnose mechanical defects of power transformers. Till now, Different numerical indices have been introduced for TF interpretation. Despite their ability to estimate defect extent, most of these indices unable to discriminate between radial deformation (RD) and axial displacement (AD). In this investigation, type of mechanical defects in windings of power transformers is determined using Manhattan Distance (MD) function. The manhattan distance is applied on predefined number of sections in TF curve, then these sectional MDs are compared to detect type of the defect. The obtained results are verified using experiments.
