چکیده:

In this study, the effect of the presence of nanoclay on interfacial tension of the PS/PA-6 pair was investigated. The Breaking Thread method (BTM), as a proper method for highly viscose materials such as polymer melt, was employed to measure the interfacial tension of PS/PA-6 pair with and without organoclay with a special focus on selective localization of nanoclay inPA6 phase. A series of PA-6 nanocomposites having organoclay content varying between 0and 4 wt.% were prepared via melt compounding. X-Ray diffraction spectra and rheological studies were performed to study the intercalated/exfoliated structure of these nanocomposites.Both XRD and rheology indicated that the nanoclays intercalated well in the preparedsamples. Optical microscopy was done and the Tomotika theory was employed to quantify the interfacial tension of these systems and compare them with those reported in literature.The results showed the interfacial tension value of PS/PA-6 nanocomposites decreased with increasing the amount of organoclay
