چکیده:

The objective of this study is to investigate how adopting different approaches toward design ventilation system can result in choosing different solutions for handling emergency mode from the perspective of smoke management. This article deals with the tunnel ventilation and smoke management system of Tehran Metro (line 7) and Tabriz Metro (line2) that the design phase of both of them are finished. It is shown that how choosing different design criteria and different assumption such as the value of Fire Heat Release Rate can influence the main parameters of smoke management like smoke back-layering, use of fans at mid-tunnel shafts, confinement velocity, Etc. In addition the tenability conditions in both projects that should be considered for the safety of attendants are studied.
