Choosing the best alternative for those buildings which are seismically vulnerable, is a complex process that difficulties of strengthening, construction time, technical and economical specification for analyzing the alternatives should be taking into consideration. An efficient alternative is the one which covers all the engineering concepts. This paper presents a study in order to draw a procedure in which the rehabilitation alternatives are compared. Pushover analysis is accomplished either to recognize the performance or to acquire the expected acceleration due to spectrum displacement. Through the loss estimation approach, fragility curves for rehabilitation alternatives of a vulnerable building have been developed. Also, reliability analysis has been used to verify the acquired results. Moreover, the benefit-cost analysis has been utilized the comparison process of the effectiveness of proposed options to ensure the economical prospect. In summary, this paper provides a new approach to make a rational decision not only to cover the technical aspect but also to support the economical point of view in optimizing the alternative selection process which has not been carried out in this way. Basically, to choose the best mitigation option requires a tool to encase all aspects of evaluation so that the presented procedure might be applicable.
