Current concern about the impacts of increasing levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) on global climate change system has provided an impetus for development of methods and technologies for the long-term disposal of CO2. Geological storage of CO2 is known to be one of the most promising methods that could provide significant reduction in CO2 emissions. However, one major concern regarding geological storage of CO2 is the possibility of leakage. Disposal of CO2 in form of CO2 hydrate in the ocean may be a possibility of reducing the atmospheric concentrations of this greenhouse gas and assist in mitigation of global warming . In this technology CO2 releases in the form of hydrate at great depths in to the ocean . Another option is to form the hydrate in the ocean at condition that allows the hydrate to be thermodynamically stable . This paper will investigate the possibility of using CO2 hydrate technology in Caspian sea and discusses the issues in its implementation
