چکیده:

Periodic assessment and monitoring of constructed dams under new conditions are required for safety operation of hydropower systems. The present paper considers theconducted procedure for static calibration of KAROON-III arch dam in Iran based on micro geodesies measurements. For thermal calibration of provided numerical model,transient thermal analyses were conducted and results were compared with thermometers records installed in dam blocks. In thermal analyses the appliedboundary conditions are air conditions, water layers temperatures and solar radiations on exposed faces of the dam body and for static calibration; thermaldistribution within dam body, dam self weight, hydrostatic pressure and silt load applied on the 3D finite element model of dam-reservoir-foundation are considered. In addition, all the vertical joints within dam body were modeled and theircharacteristics were simulated based on sensitive analyses
