چکیده:

The objective of this paper is to optimize a blade profile of a centrifugal backward curved fan. Thus two dimensional turbulent Naveir-Stokes equations throughout a blade passage are solved considering the body forces resulted from the blade rotation. Standard k-ε turbulence model is used for turbulence modeling. A numerical code based on the finite volume method is developed for solving these equations using SIMPLER algorithm. Genetic algorithm optimization program is integrated to the numerical code for finding the optimum blade profile. Maximum total pressure at the outlet is introduced as an objective function for a particular given conditions. Blade profile is defined based on the several control points along the blade passage. Positions and tangent angles of these control points are used to generate the blade profile
