In today’s competitiveness environment, continuous changes in most of manufacturing firms are competing for meeting demand, decreasing costs and increasing quality. However, manufacturing companies are forced to select a suitable flexible manufacturing system (FMS). In this study, a framework for evaluating and selecting the FMS based on a model by integrating two decision models including Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) is proposed. Since the DEA method permits us to categorize the Decision Making Units (DMUs) to only two classes of efficient and inefficient units, we apply an Fuzzy AHP model to have a full rank of DMUs. Regarding the issue that decision processes are including some ambiguities, we use fuzzy logic. We implement the proposed framework for a Manufacturing Company in Iran. The results indicated that the structure and modeling approach of this paper could be easily utilized for ranking and analysis of other sectors.
