Avian influenza (AI) outbreak is one of the greatest concerns in today’s world. Over the past 5 years the impact of AI on the poultry industry has increased 100 folds. The primary introduction of AI viruses in domestic poultry occurs either through direct or indirect contact with infected birds. This may occur through movement of infected poultry, movement of contaminated equipments, fomites or vehicles and penetration of contaminated infectious organic material into the holding. The genome of the influenza A virus contains eight segments which encode different proteins. Segment 8 of influenza A virus encodes two proteins, NS1, NS2.The NS1 protein is a collinear transcription product of segment8. NS1 protein, a non structural protein of influenza A virus was reported to contribute to its pathogenicity and virulence. NS1 protein is a multifunctional protein that plays a significant role in resisting the host antiviral response during the influenza infection.There are some selected amino acids residues within the NS1 protein which play a critical role in the ability of this protein to bind to double strand RNA and mutations of just two amino acids can result in an attenuated virus. This shows the high degree of NS1 conservation among influenza A virus strains and provides an antigenic marker for influenza virus infections.In this study we selected some conserve peptide sequences of the NS1 Protein to detect antibodies against it with western blot method.Western blot is a specific and reliable method for medical diagnosis; it is easy to use and low cost.
