Electronic commerce has leaded to a major revolution in business activities and has changed completely the traditional methods of trade transactions. The widespread use of e-commerce offers many advantages to business parties and encounters them different opportunities while trying to bargain. The business parties need to negotiate about various conditions to obtain optimal solution. This situation shows the necessity of business negotiation algorithms that can be implemented in a reasonable time, with enough precision and satisfaction of two sides of the agreements. This paper presents an application of socio-politically inspired global optimization strategy, an imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA), to offer optimal solution for negotiators. In order to improve feasibility of the original ICA in solving multi-variable model of e-commerce negotiations, small probability perturbation and a mutation operator are applied to this algorithm. The modified algorithm is implemented on instance negotiation between some exporters and importers to achieve maximum payoff. Then the performance of modified ICA is compared with those of Genetic Algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), and differential evolution (DE). The simulation results show that the proposed evolutionary optimization algorithm is robust, fast and suitable for e-commerce negotiation.
