The age hardening procedure of different types of aluminum alloys are reviewed in this article. Heat treatable aluminum alloys are widely used in the automobile and aerospace industry due to the high ratio of strength to weight potential for weight reduction and the decrease in fuel consumption and the ability of age hardening . aging is a treatment during which the strength and in turn the dent resistance can be increased significantly . the strengthening mechanism in these alloys is due to the interaction between dislocations and solute atoms and includes of precipitation hardening and cluster hardening . aluminum alloys can be hardened through aging in two ways: strain aging includes of static and dynamic aging and quench aging in which each of them have a special mechanism and some applications.
