The importance of using filtration equipments is growing because of word-wide air pollution problem. Particle pollution, also known as particulate matter, is made up of a number of components including organic materials, chemicals materials, metals, soil or dust particles. Some of the most common health problems which caused by air pollution are irritation of eyes, throat and lungs. For people with existing respiratory conditions, such as asthma or bronchitis, breathing in particles can make the conditions worse. Particles also can effect on plants. In very dusty environments, particles effect on photosynthesis in plants through settling on leaves and reducing the amount of sunlight reaching the leaf. In order to reduce the particulates level in an output industrial air stream, selective equipments which show excellent characteristics, i.e. high efficiency, thermal resistance, wide range diameter collection, recovery of valuable materials and etc. are required. On the other hand, cost-effective air filtration systems are desired for many industries. So responsibles should understand various characteristics of filter elements along with the economical aspects of an optimum selection. Therefore, an introduction to the various systems which are used in industries to separate and collect particles from the output gas stream, can be useful.
