چکیده:

In dam projects, abutments stability is always controlled. The change of the physical condition of environment due to the reservoir water influence or excavations may cause the slopes to slide. This paper studies a slope stability case in Alborz Dam in Iran. The left abutment above the diversion and spillway tunnels outlets has been monitored for about three years and monitoring results have shown the slope creeping movement at some parts. It seems that a circular failure is going to occur. This slope includes three major layers – sound marlstone, weathered marlstone, and silty clay. To assess the rock and soil real properties, stability back analysis has been performed. Finally a method has been developed to stabilize the slope
