At present, a global problem of increased fossil fhel prices is being witnessed necessitating the need and sem·ch for the development of future altemative fuels. Biodiesel, a promising and feasible substitute to fossil fuel in the tr·anspOiiation sectors is, however, bedeviled with high cost of a raw material. The estimated cost of feedstock is in excess of 70% of the total production plant cost. However, there m·e several sources thatavail for the production of biodiesel. Hmnessing other f01ms of feedstock not only alleviate the burden on fossil fuel exploitation but would significantly contr·ibute to the realization of attaining the forecasted annual production rate of 227 billion liters of biofuels by the most active stakeholders in the biodiesel industry and attaining the 2020 and 2030 goal of substituting approximately 20% and 30% of petrol-diesel with biofuels in US and EU, respectively. The sources m·e categorized as waste cooking oil (WCO), municipal solid waste (MSW), agricultural and industr·ial waste. The cunent study examines the various potential offered by these sources and suggests an inf01med conclusion based on the research fmdings
