چکیده:

In this research, a new method was developed in order to decrease total acid number of off-spec crude oils, especially for high molecular crude oil matrices. In order to avoid from metal corrosion in pipes, pumps and units in refining process and transport lines of crude oil, a special care must be applied to control acidity level of heavy crude oils.Acid content of Nowrooz crude oil was reduced from 7.6 mgKOH/g to 1.2 mgKOH/g after being desalted, using a superior demulsifier. Acidity distribution, in different fractions of desalted Nowrouz crude oil, shows a maximum value of acidity in lube cut fraction, which may be referred to as naphthenic acids. The method was ideally suited for acidity reduction of heavy crude oils.
